It’s not often you find this fresh crop in Northern Michigan, and that makes us sad. So, we’re putting our indoor farm to use and bringing Southern staples up to the 45th parallel year-round! Commonly grown for their star shaped pods and stewed or (our favorite) fried, Okra plants are entirely edible from the roots to the shoots and everything in between! By capturing them as microgreens or as we like to call them “shoots”, you’ll still get that robust flavor without any risk of slime and with even more nutritional qualities.

Flavor Profile: Earthy, vegetal; a little bit grassy but not like chewing on the lawn.

Color/Texture: Velvety Green Leaves with Robust Light Green Stems. Crunchy and Crisp all in one bite. We harvest at the perfect moment just before the little fuzzies start to grow.

Nutrition: Carbohydrates, Fiber, Protein oh my! All providing excellent health benefits that help manage blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol. Vitamins C and K strengthen bones and immune system function. Great way to improve digestion.

Approx. Grow Time: 12 Days (Stems may or may not reflect magenta color when harvested)
