Our Mission
Grow Good Food
At Lake Michigan Farms, we strive to grow food that’s good for you AND the environment, without any of the extra stuff. All of our produce items are cultivated by hand using regenerative methods and organic practices. We have opted for an innovative approach using both traditional and modern farming techniques that preserve our native ecosystems while promoting year-round cultivation of fresh produce. Our Vision
Independence Without Imports
In terms of agricultural production and distribution, our area relies almost entirely on imports for supply. This dependency is even more challenging for us because of unpredictable weather patterns and transportation restrictions; leaving residents and businesses without consistent access to fresh food and commodities. With the complexities of living on a remote island, having year-round access to a variety of fresh, organic nutrition sources doesn’t have to be one of them.
Our aim is to eliminate reliance on produce imports by restoring sustainable agriculture as an industry here on Beaver Island. Using both modern and traditional regenerative farming methods, our efforts will revitalize locally grown food for our community and create livable wage jobs for seasonal hospitality workers.
Our Offerings
Farm Products
All of our crops are grown from certified GMO-FREE ORGANIC seeds using 100% Natural Methods. We mix our own soil from a custom blend of island made compost and OMRI certified organic coconut coir that later gets recycled for use at our produce farm.

Sprouts are a popular low-maintenance choice for anyone looking to add a high-value source of nutrition. Fast growing and easy to eat, ready for your plate in as little as 4 days!
