Micro-Greens
Don’t let their tiny size fool you! Micro-greens are power packed superfoods that are filled with essential vitamins and minerals for a balanced, nutritious diet. These early stage veggies can be used in all sorts of ways to enrich your meals and bring a zing of flavor to virtually anything you eat or drink. We love to put them in smoothies, salads and you’ve probably already had them at one point on a restaurant sandwich or entrée dish.
While we begin cultivation on the farm and work to get our seedlings in the ground, one of the ways we can quickly begin to produce fresh, healthy food is by growing micro-greens!
From seed to harvest in just a couple of weeks, click the button below to take a look at our current offerings. Orders can be placed online and delivered right to your door here on Beaver Island. If you would like to try something new, let us know! We’re happy to give it a try for sampling. Once the farmer’s market opens, be on the lookout for our micro-green table plus a variety of new organic products too!

I.S.A.N.D. Initiative
As an early-stage farming concept, it is so important that we understand the inner workings of our local food system in order to better serve the residents who live here. By creating a strategic plan for a comprehensive analysis, we aim to eliminate island dependency on agricultural imports.

Garden Clean-up & Planning
Beaver Island is a network of like-minded residents, all who believe in the power of self-sufficiency. As a remote island, accessible by boat or plane, learning to grow and preserve food is a resourceful and cost-effective way to sustain a nutritious diet.

As the Spring season swiftly falls upon us, the thought of getting out there and reworking the soil might seem daunting, but we are here to help! From pulling weeds to building raised beds and everything in between, our helping hands can make your garden work much easier.
If you’re interested in getting started and need guidance on crop planning or garden design, we specialize in regenerative practices and organic methods, either newly established or conversion.

Organic Produce
*Summer 2025*
We are in the process of cultivating our first micro-farm here on Beaver Island! This initial plot will serve as our demonstration garden for students with an innovative farm to school program. As we continue to grow, the addition of more micro-farms will be used to regenerate our lands and increase capacity for feeding residents.
Using regenerative practices, micro-farming focuses on creating biodiverse foodscapes that heal the soil and promote open pollination. Methods such as companion planting, cover crops and no-till techniques paired with the addition of natural amendments, help turn an overgrown, nutrient deficient plot of land into a living, breathing organism of sustainable food!
All of our produce items are grown by hand without the use of synthetic chemicals or fertilizers. We already have seeds sprouting and will be harvesting our first round of crops ready for your plates by the Summer of this year! (2025)

Zero-Waste Program
*Summer 2025*
Aligning with our philosophy of “closing the loop”, we import as little as possible for our farm. This means that most of our seed starting containers, building materials and other farming supplies are developed with repurposed or upcycled materials. This keeps our carbon footprint to an absolute minimum and lowers our island’s waste disposal.
Joining our Zero-Waste Program is a way for our community to come together and create a positive impact for the environment. We will be launching this program in the Summer of 2025 and more details are to come!

Meal Kits & Home Delivery
*Fall 2025*
Supporting local businesses and organizations is one of the ways we give back to the Beaver Island community. The concept of meal delivery is relatively new and something that is widely used by our island residents. While the ordering process is still the same as if you were on the mainland, the island doesn’t have traditional door to door delivery service so boxes get picked up from the airport.
This additional step can be challenging for some and extends the length of time that fresh produce is out of optimal temperatures, reducing shelf-life considerably.
We are working on a new concept where the produce that we grow is made available for meal configurations and proteins will initially come from the local grocery store. Ultimately, our goal is to create a channel of fresh butchered meats that are produced on the island which can be included in our kits when needed. Any fruits, vegetables, dairy, grains or proteins that can’t be produced on the island, will come from Michigan based farms and locally owned businesses.
Orders will be placed right online where individual items can be selected or specific meals chosen with recipe cards included in the box. Then you choose your delivery date and we take it from there!
